Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) picture
This picture of purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) comes from our garden. Purple coneflowers are a very popular garden plant. They grow about 3 to 5 feet tall and bloom most of the summer. They're considered fast growers. Our purple coneflowers are only in the sun about 4 or 5 hours a day and lean a little bit. I'm guessing they would do better with a little more sunlight. Deadheading spent blooms produces more blooms. It attracts bees, birds and butterflies. I know that where we live gold finches love it. Some use it as a medicinal herb.
