French hollyhock (Malva sylvestris) picture

French hollyhock (Malva sylvestris) in this picture is in our garden. The flower itself is mauve-purple and has dark maroonish purple veins. It looks similar to hibiscus. This flower is native to Europe, western Asia and northern Africa but has naturalized in many parts of the world. It reseeds itself constantly. Our plant had a bit of a mildew problem but that's probably due to it being mostly in partial shade. We really didn't have the best spot to plant it but couldn't resist the color of the purple flowers. As a bonus, it attracts butterflies.
