Purple hyacinth (Hyacinthus) picture
This picture is a purple hyacinth, which is one of the most popular Easter flowers. Originating in the eastern Mediterranean, they are one of the most fragrant of all the spring blooming plants. They're best located in full sun to partial shade and hyacinths look best planted in groups of 3 or more. They come in at least 6 or more different colors that can blend in nicely with your other early season blooming plants. Plant your hyacinth bulbs in the Fall so you can have them blooming the following Spring. Don't forget to let the plant fade away naturally so it will bloom the following year.
