Purple iris picture
The purple iris is a flower that we have yet to add to our garden, but you can see their spectacular blooms almost everywhere you go in late Spring. Growing from creeping rhizomes or bulbs, the iris is best planted in mid to late summer in an area that gets 6 to 8 hrs. of sunlight a day. They like good soil drainage, good air circulation and should not be over watered once established. The plants should be divided every 3 to 4 years. They also come in a variety of colors, but we think purple is the prettiest.
